yeah parish had his G80 for a while. there's also a video of him doing a burnout for a couple hundred feet and i'm pretty sure he had the G80 when he did it. like said above, the G80 will go eventually. i'd like to change mine for a true trac but i'd rather save the money. but then again i dont want to spend a grand if it blows up and takes out my gears too. if you plan on putting some decent money into your truck as far as performance, i'd get rid of the G80 ASAFP. it will probably save many headaches down the road.

 

I just realized, in my glovebox it lists g80 as if i had the factory locker. I thought it was electronically controlled and my rear end never locked up or tried to limit the slip between my tires. The only time it ever locked up was when i was going 20 on a spare tire in a straight line. I thought i had just fried me "what i thought was open" rear diff. I now hate those things even more.

 

They have a mechanical leaver that engages when there is a significant difference in rpms between the 2 axles. It locks like you have a straight axle. Centrifugal force from speed then slings it out somewhere in the 30mph range I believe. Mine in my 95 model with a 383 has fits engaging in and out when I am being rough on it and spinning the tires up to around 50mph. It will engage, get traction, disengage, break traction etc......This is what usually breaks them or people spinning out with one tire on the pavement and the other in grass or gravel.

 

and spinning over a manhole cover everyday leaving work will do it too... trust me
