Smile Quad Shock rear suspension setup

Anyone seen this in action or used it before?

Apparently some Mustangs use this setup and it works well for reducing wheel hop and traction.

Yes mustangs use a shock on that position but they are also a 4 link suspension where they have very little axle wrap, whereas a leaf spring has a bunch of axle wrap. I would thing it's going to take a heavy shock to stop the wheel hop, depending on your power. Be interesting to see how it turns out. This may help with wheel hop but will not be a traction aid like a type of traction bars would be..

I got the pics from fb. The guy is building it now. He is supposed to post up his results after he logs a few passes, but you know how that goes.

The shocks' effectiveness will be limited by the short stroke of what it's dampening here. Stick a Go-Pro under your truck and watch axle wrap in action - particularly rotation which is the major thing a shock at this angle would be dampening. Not much to work with.
Might be the camera angles and lighting, but that notch job looks a little scary.

I honestly do not see anything being gained with that other then helping some wheel hop issue.. Like said skip that step add good bars on the bottom of the axle, a good set of shocks in the stock location.. The owner of that truck should have went with a 4 link or ladder set up if he is going through that work,.,. Just my op though

all the mustang guys i know remove the quad shocks as one of their first mods, followed by torque boxes and boxed control arms.
