Default The problem continues

I keep breaking my front tranny pump. What the hell keeps causing this? I'm clueless. That's the 3rd one that bites the dust since I put the 6.0 in dec. The first two only lasted about 2 weeks. I spaced the converter on the drive plate which prolonged the last one for about 4 months. What else could I check. Could it be that we messed up the converter when we bolted it up to the wrong driveplate during the swap?

I haven't had the flexplate checked. It shouldn't be damaged since it was from my 5.3. I was using the flexplate from the 6.0 when that happened. Maybe I should get a new one just incase. They can't be that expensive.
Thanks hawk for the sympathy. I need to send it back but just don't want to be down for that long. Let me know if ya'll think of something. I'm gonna check my driveplate tomorrow to see if it spins true.

If you dont mind, how does the truck / transmission act when the tranny pump breaks. My tranny just went out all at once yesterday under normal driving conditions. It started to slip a little and by the 5th traffic light, it was slipping so bad it wouldnt move. Some say that I could have lost line pressure.

It's warped or out alignment in some way (the flexplate). I went through 2 pumps to find my flexplate was warped. I ended up with 5.3 flexplate and drilled it and extended the slots. I guess it caused problems for me on that occasion.A transmission specialist found it, not me ofcourse. Doesn't take much to knock out those pumps. They are right there in the front, exposed to every millimeter of misalignment.

You might want to check that the dowl pins are located it the block correctly and in the transmission correctly, if you do not have the crankshaft centerline to the transmission centerline as is could be what you have going on
Note: that the stock flexplate will allow for up to .035 runout at the converter lugs
but and heavy duty aftermarket one has a lower runout range as to the thicker material about .015

Is the converter a Precision Industries Vigilante?
