Paging @Drspencer come in spencer

Have you made any more progress on these brakes?
I almost want to just put on some of those 20s that Dan posted earlier and eventually find a nice after market wheel.

My bad. Definitely missed this one. Alright. A BIG update…..they’re installed. They do great things. No rattling. No humming under heavy braking or load BUT…. For those trucks with 13” rotors, there is a part of the inside of the pad, 1/4” at the peak of the radius, that is NOT on the rotor surface. This can cause low speed, low pressure squealing. And it’s Fuggin loud. To rectify this, you just take a grinder to the affected area, the area that is not touching the rotor surface.

I presume you are just chamfering the edge of the pad that is overhanging but I am confused by the 13" rotor mention. I thought these required 16" rotors?

Yes, I’m just chamfering the edge only where it’s overhung on the inside. The mention of 13” rotors is for vehicles originally equipped with 13” rotors. The 2019+ had 13.5” rotors meaning the caliper mount is 1/4” outward. The 16” rotor package was made for vehicles originally equipped with 13.5” rotors.

I just need to know if these or Centerline Stingray IIIs will fit lol
Those Welds I wonder if they would be able to not make it a gloss black, would not look good on my truck imo

Do y'all know if snowflakes fit?

Are the pads flaking from the overhang or is that your chamfering?

From the overhang. I had to pry the caliper off and that part broke off. I then ground off the affected area so it wouldn’t overhang anymore. No more brake squeaking.

Not to chage directions of the thread, just trying to share the info I discovered with my setup. I decided to buy the 6 piston Brembo brakes that a 2023 Escalade ESV-V from Rockauto. But did discover the cheap Dynamic Friction brake pads RockAuto sells won’t fit. They are missing the correct holes for the brake pins. I had to use AcDelco pads. For reference, I bought the newer GM 4 piston caliper set just to take them apart and dissect. The smaller coated pistons shown are from the Brembo 6 piston caliper. The larger uncoated pistons are from the 4 piston caliper. The piston diameter of each, and total surface area is less vs the 4 piston calipers. Witch actually pairs better with the older truck’s smaller master cylinder. Most of the braking performance of the 6 piston kit relies on the larger pad friction surface and 16” rotor anyways, not number of pistons. Since it’s a fixed caliper, I did have to shim the Brembo caliper 3.25mm or slightly over 1/8” to center the caliper on the rotor. In addition, for my wheel to fit over this large caliper, I ended up using a 1/2” wheel spacer.
