Default Power steering line swap..

Hey guys,

I had no idea where to put this thread so i figured i would get some hits in this section. I also searched this and didnt find anything worth looking at.

I have a 2001 silvy with the 5.3L and i want to ditch all the stock power steering lines and go to braided stainless steel lines.. I would really like to go with black braided lines but i havent been able to find any yet that will handle power steering pressures/fluid.. I know 2 of the lines will just be clamped on because they are the cooler lines and have barely any pressure on them. But what about the other 2? I know one line threads into the steering box itself, but i am unsure of how the pressure lines attach to the pump it self at the back.. I need to know the line size i will need(either AN/american size) and for the pressure lines what sort of fittings i will need to attach the pressure lines with the pump and the steering box..

If anybody has any info or pics of braided lines they have done for the power steering all help is greatly appreciated..

Thanks, Jonathon

I personally would not use braided steel lines for the power steering...the pressure is well over 1000psi.

Well i know braided stainless would look good and be durable with all the heat and stuff involved.. there are several companies that make power steering specific braided lines, thats why i wanted to go that route..

Just make sure you use the power steering specific hoses and fittings. I think they have a teflon liner or some ****...

Yeah, every line that says it is for power steering has a teflon coated liner in it.. does anybody have any idea what size threads i'll have to use on the steering box and pump?

Thanks
