Default P to D hard bumb.. y????

hey guys just one quick question.. after i installed my shift kit a couple months ago when i put my truck in reverse or drive or anywhere i put it other than N it has a hard hit. i know it must of been something with the shift kit install but what??? im rebuilding my tranny may b in two weeks since it went out on me not to long ago and i have no 2 or 4 so i was thinking that i would fix that problem. it doesnt bother me but i would like for it to be a bit smoother. any ideas? i have the hd-2 shift kit. all holes got drilled with the smaller bit that was supplied and one washer was used only.. which i will be taking off since my 1-2 shift was tripping tires at 3500rpm and really letting them loos at 6k

What converter do you have? If its more than a few hundred RPM stall over stock, then it shouldn't hit as hard during any shift because not as much torque is being applied when you're idling. If you have a higher stall converter, then drivetrain slack may be to blame. When you start shifting a little harder, it tends to stress/possibly loosen things a little bit.
