Wiring mods, slip yoke, flexplate depending on what converter you get, dipstick tube, cooler line mods maybe.

Good stuff! You all the basics have been covered in previous posts. There are plenty of threads on this forum about the swap. Check out Pat's (03sierraslt) thread on the wiring changes for more info.

i have been looking at the wiring mods and came across a segment swap so you run the 80E just like a 60E to keep the converter from unlocking. i talked to jake but i have yet to see any info on how to do that yet. i ordered a 80E converter with 60E tabs on it. i will try and find a dipstick tube and slip yoke today. can i just pick one up from a parts house? does it matter what year of truck i ask for?

Back in 2010 I really did not like the unlocking and locking of the converter on the highway with my Yank 3600.

Now for whatever reason with my Circle D triple disk 3400 it's not nearly as noticeable/annoying. It's a non-issue for me. But I also don't DD this truck anymore and its much more heavily modded than it was at that time.

Especially if you are going to be using a somewhat mild converter, I'd start out with the factory 80e segment swap and see how you like it.
