Default More Swap Info

Add this too! The brake pedal can be cut down and you can buy the smaller 5 speed pedal pad, so you don't have to remount another pedal.

Default pedals

I found it easier to just order the pedals from the dealer for $65 for brake and clutch pedal. I am going to do the same transformation in my 06 silverado and found the parts at a dealer in Delaware pretty reasonable.

Well in that case I have a stock brake pedal minus the pad, new, sitting here I guess I could sell.

Default Pedal

This is true.

I have to wait unitl my friend goes back to work so that he can make me an adjustable rod for my master cylinder so I can drive Mr. Gibbs. I hate looking at it and not driving it. My. Giibbs realeases all the way down on the floor board and I do not want to drive it this way. Just another note to some of you doing this that you may need an adjustabel Master Cylinder.

Default Pedals

Mine did this too, but after 500 miles of driving it, it adjusted it's self to about one once off the floor. It is like the same problem the f-body guys are having with the LS7 clutch swaps!

Have you tried any shims?

Default Master

No man I paid my friend at the trans shop to do the swap for me. Here in Maryland it is a little to cold to be laying on our backs plus he only charged me $250 and it took him 2 hours to do it. But I would rather have the adjustability that way anything I do to it is just a simple twist of the rod away. You see I hate **** to be difficult or not work right the first time so thanks to you guys and my friends machine shop I have to be patient and what for this rod s that it will cure that problem.

I feel ya on the cold *** floor thing! That adjustable sounds like a bad *** idea. You think you might make more than just one? I will buy one after you test it out. i am trying to make my swap more complete now that it is not my DD anymore.

Default 6 speed swap

I'm gonna be doin the swap in the next few weeks,I thought I would go ahead and swap in the 4.56 gears this weekend and ran into a few snags.1. I bought the gears and tru-trac from summit motive 4.56,s summit install kit they said I needed a diffferent bearing than was in the kit, ratech carrier bearings cant remember the part# but it was the wrong damn bearings. I came to find I just needed stock carrier bearings and races-99 nbs silverado.I also tried to reuse the stock pinion shim but it didnt seem to give me any preload on the rear pinion bearing, I'm gonna try and get a new chrush sleeve tues. and try to finish the gear swap.Swapping gears is not a fun job!!! Also if you buy the tru-trac and bolt 4.56 gears on it the friggin cap that goes over the hole in the unit wont work with 4.56's(gear is too thick) i had to get the porta band and cut part of the cap so it would slide past the gear. Its held in with a snap ring so it dont think it will hurt. This is how far I have got so far maybe better luck next week.
