Odd noises in Park and Neutral...
#1
Hey guys, I'm a poor college student in need of help!
Any ideas on what would be making a slight whining noise when in Park and Neutral? I don't really notice it any other times.
It's happening on my 1999 Silverado V6 with a 4L60E Automatic transmission.
I'm going to go have it checked tomorrow by a local shop, but I wanted to get your advice first!
Really appreciate it!

I'm not a real mechanic or anything, but I understand a little. Are you talking about the clutch bearing? I think I could see how that would make this noise, though I'm not really sure.
Also, I just noticed on the way back from work... my oil pressure gauge fluxuates a *little* (2-4 psi?) at idle, I know this is normal in some cases, but could it be related to this problem?
Thanks a bunch!

the oil pressure wont have anything to do with it, and also there is no bearing for the clutch considering it is an automatic, but as far as your problem goes, have you checked fluids, ever done a tranny tune-up (filter, and oil) ??
