Default New Tranny problem, please shed some light

Im am at witts end with this tranny. After fixing all broken and smashed wires I still have issues. My tranny seems to shift fine manualy and will go through 1-3 in 3rd but seems to go straight to od or stay in 1st when I put it in D. Reverse still seems to bind any ideas where it could be? When I had the tranny apart no seal were broken and everything looked fine. The tranny is a 4l80E with a transgo HD-2 with gear command and a transgo vacuume modulator. Any ideas?

Go over your shift kit install in the valve body. Sounds like you might have an issue with one of the cotter pins that was installed or not installed. I'm guessing the one that is installed in the shift valve passage. These act as an orifice and if the hole is the wrong size it will cause weird issues. Vince

what is the chance the vacuum mod is causing my problem? When you put it in gear reverse will work for a sec with applied gas, then stops? could it be a low pressure issue? Is there a chance I screwed up the electronics?

I do not think the vac mod is your issue. Did you look at the valve body like I mentioned earlier? Vince

the pin is there, but I am not sure if the hole os the right size. I have an untouched valve body and a new style shift kit that I can install. The only thing is in the instructions for the vacuum mod it stated you needed the hd-2 kit with gear command will it be fine with out it?

Yes it will be fine. I have done this many times without the gear command and I have never had an issue like yours. The vac mod takes place of the pressure solenoid and should effect any other mods to the transmission. Vince

new valve body and still the same thing so maybe I over looked something in side the tranny. The direct drum is common between OD and Reverse correct? Maybe some I screwed up in there?

The direct drum is applied in OD but it's primary function is 3rd and reverse. Vince
