Do you have an ATSG manual? They have loads of info.
Do you have a PN for the sonnax self regulating valve? Thinking about changing mine out from the transgo piece before I put it in the truck. It's a 01 core IIRC

Can you layout exactly how you had the pressure regulator and boost valve installed in the pump with springs/spacers and all? And post a pic of it.

The Sonnax valve is 34200-10K and the best price I found was Rockauto. Don't forget to plug the hole you drilled for the transgo valve.

Filter was a wix 58608, which is what oreilly showed for the HD application

Fluid was full when I checked it. Maybe clutch material ("sediment") blocking passages? I used the multi-layer TransGo plate, but have seen reports of cross-bleeding between plates. Could that be a leak ATSG refers to? I'll get a pic of the boost valve assembly

With as much material as you had in the pan and the condition of those clutches i would make sure to get any and all fluid passages cleaned and blown out, to make sure nothing is restricting flow through passages.

Do you have a trans temp gauge? It might be good insurance. I just did a stock GM one. I'm looking at pressure guages now.

I don't have a temp gauge on it. It'd be a good investment, but being an obs I don't think I can do a stock gm.

Def need to do a thorough cleaning on it, for fluid flow & so I don't contaminate the new stuff.

I've been looking at rebuild kits, & trying to make sense of some of the upgrades available. It's going to be a daily driver & work truck. Need to be able to tow, but I don't have a specific load at the moment. Are things like extra direct clutches or changing thrust washers for torrington bearings worthwhile? This is my first build so I don't want to overcomplicate things

Buying a rebuild kit from Jakes will come with everything you need, plus tech support. You're looking at about $750 for his rebuild kit.

I'd been looking at the Jakes Stage 2 kit. This comment from Vince made me wonder if I'd be better off with a more stock build:
With thinner steels you can not dissipate the heat as well however I have used forward steels in the direct and have done just fine. I know alto has various packs on the market that use really thin steels and I try to avoid using these. Clutch clearance is the issue when you start adding things to any drum and in most cases I use a TH400 piston to make all this happen for the direct clutch. Also the cushion plate will have to be eliminated in the drum to do this in most cases.*
