Didn't want to come out easy, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I'll look into the Sonnax for my build

FWIW I used the Sure Cure Sonnax kit in my 80e.

Are those steels warped?!

Yep, between that & the drum coloration I think it got a little warm. Inside of that drum was caked with clutch material too. Directs aren't too bad. The cushion plate's worn & a little wavy, but nothing like the forwards.

That drum coloration is normal. I thought the same thing when I pulled my trans apart. I believe it's heat treated to make it stronger since the planetary gears ride inside that part.

The relief valve i was talking about is the little plate, spring, and plunger you install outside the valvebody. That's what can cause issues.

Do you have an ATSG manual? They have loads of info.

What springs did you use with the boost valve? What dipstick are you using?

The relief valve looks ok & the plunger moves freely. Boost valve I used the 2 springs that came with the kit, 1 purple & 1 green.

Dipstick came with the trans, GM 15074815. Admittedly, the fluid got a little low on the first drive (maybe 2mi). Thats the first time the symptoms started. Topping it off seemed to fix things, but the 1-2 shift would hit hard (too harsh for daily driving) & made a clunk in the driveline I was trying to track down. Not long after, the rest of this started.

I used the ATRA manual for disassembly. If the ATSG has more or better info, I'll order one.

I mostly used the ATRA guide with all the nice pics. The atsg is good for the specifics.

Ditch that transgo plate thing. Your trans is open, do the internal dual feed mod. One cup plug, and leave off a couple parts. Done!

I don't have an ATRA manual so I don't know if the ATSG has more or better info, but for only 20 bucks, it wouldn't hurt to pick one up.

You need to figure out what's causing the pressure loss. When you tested the pressures, was it with the trans low on fluid or full?

Did you use the correct filter for the deep pan?
