Default Need shackle help quick

Alright guys, I have had a set of belltech shackles sitting in my garage forever now. I wanted to fix the little bit of chevy lean I got going on so I figured I would go ahead and put a shackle on the passenger side set to 1". Well no more than I got under the truck I starting having problems getting the old shackle out, its a stepside thing. After finally getting it out I went to install the belltech shackle, but I can't get it in the bottom, 1", hole. What am I doing wrong? Did I become stupid in the past 2 years since I installed the shackles the first time? And this may be a stupid question, but I forgot, which way do the shackles face, is it solid side to the back or front? Maybe I just need smacked in the head or something, but any help you guys got give to me so I don't have to put the stocker back on tonight. Thanks

Default Oh yea...

You might have to grind out the lip on the under side of the bed to get the leaf springs up enough to get it in that hole. I had to do that to get mine on. Its either that or lift the bed off the frame. I had to use a rubber hammer to beat the shackle down in the frame slot. Good luck.

I guess that was the first problem, I had them the wrong way lol. I am not having a problem with it hitting the bed, just can't get it in.

trever1t, are you sure it will not go in that hole? I know people are doing this and I thought most brands did this.

If I do that, I will be in the same position I am now, just the drivers side will be lower.

Well, its a 1" shackle now even if its not suppose to be. I ended up using a step bit to enlarge the hole a little and then on the solid side, grinded a little away so the leaf doesn't bind on it. Went in nice and smooth. I decided to take a little break, but all I have to do is tighten everything up.

Question

Your only putting it on one side??? That may not be the best thing to do. It could throw off your rear thrust angle or place the rear end suspension in a bind. IMO
