Need a measurement, please (axle tube)

Can someone measure the diameter of the 8.5/8.6 axle tube and let me know what it is please?

I came up with 3.105 od depending on the scale/paint build up.

Pretty sure I know where this thread is going and I went through the same **** when I did my rear shock relocation. Almost all the available weld on shock brackets are cut to fit a 3" axle tube. To which I found didn't fit. A grinder would be the correct tool to use on the brackets.
