I'm at the point where i am in need of a 4l80 swap(sound correct?) but just havent found a local shop (crofton, md) familiar with this swap on awd denali...they all say they have never done 1 yet and id be the 1st and they dont know what all is involved to get it done. (i dont want to be the guinea pig)

I spoke to Alan @Performabuilt in regards to building a 80E for my truck and he had no clue what i was talking about when i started to explain what needed to be done for the swap and what i need for the xcase to mate and he followed up with........

Tony,

According to our records you bought a 4L60E Level 2 mixed with a Rocks Crawler and 2500 stall TC. They are rated for up to about 500 hp, so you are definitely getting the most out of it.....lol. I'm glad you've enjoyed it as much and as long as you have.

Given that you want to add even more power, I would suggest upgrading to our Level 3 (or even the Black Edition, since your vehicle is so heavy).

You also need to upgrade your torque converter to a billet at your power level.

The Restore/Upgrade will run you:

Restore........................$995

Upgrade to Level........$1095

Total............................$2090

If you want a Billet converter, the 9.5 inch runs $1085. We don't build our own converters any more. We sell FTI converters.

The Restore does not include shipping to us, but it does include shipping back to you. If you don't have access to cheap shipping we can pick it up for an additional $175 on our account.

If you are interested, the Black Edition runs $1805 more than the Level 3.

Alan

not sure if i should give the Black Edition a try or put all that$ into the 80E swap????
any1 else running a performabuilt trans?
i beat the snot out of my truck daily! and the trans has finally gotten tired and worn out from all the abuse and is starting to slip on WOT 2-3 shift. i know its only a matter of time till i start slipping all the time and losing gears

any/all comments & suggestions are welcome!

thanks every1,
tony

I'd go 80e... its not all that bad.

You will need a different input shaft for the transfer case, otherwise it is very similar to any 4L80e swap in a 4x4 truck. Driveshafts, crossmember, flex plate, converter, cooler lines, and tune.

There is a great write up on here.

The 80 swap would probably be waaaay less expensive than the 900+1000+ 1800.... Hell you could buy a gm reman 80, put a shift kit in it a converter and pay someone to install it all for that!!!

A built 80E is cheaper then a built 60e anyday, a fully build 60E is big money as you have to do everything to keep them together behind a lot of power and weight. At the end of the day they are still limited by smaller shafts also.

Is this a Yukon or Sierra Denali?

42-45 with no regulator is very low.... Should be 58-65!!
