Default NBS RCSB Handling sucks, tips to improve

I love my 2005 RCSB truck, fairly fast truck, great gas mileage even with a dozen or so wide open runs a day haha but the cornering ability just plain sucks on this truck. My Avalanche can take a wide sweeping turn on the way to work @ 80mph no problem, the RCSB cant exceed 65mph on the same turn without having to slow down to keep off the shoulder.

So far ive installed a larger front sway bar, added a rear sway bar and bilstein shocks. My next idea is to lower the front of the truck, everyone says dont use lowering coil springs because it will jack up the steering. I cannot imagine the truck cornering worse so im tempted to try the springs just to see if worse is possible.

Let me hear your ideas or what you have done to improve the handling and cornering ability on your truck

how wide of a tire are you running... Tires have the bggest impact on cornering, if your still on factory 245s theirs your problem...

If you're thinkin about lowering, use parts that wont affect your ride or change spring rate, etc. such as spindles for the front and shackles/hangers on the rear.

Have you replaced the dampeners lately? Bad/rotten ones will make the truck corner like crap.

Actually, since yours is coil, I'm not sure if it has dampeners.

My truck rides on rails with on a 3/3 drop and new dampeners. I didn't have to change the swaybars either. Oh, I have Pirelli Scorpion tires as well, stiffer sidewalls than anything else I found besides low profile street tires.

Is part of your problem a hoopty-esque front end bounce? That's really confidence inspiring going around corners with bumps or expansion joints. Stock z85 shocks and bilstein hd's both bounced like crazy for me. 3" coils and summit drop shocks seems way better. Maybe because you notice it less with reduced travel..

had that issue with my truck on 265's, couldn't go around a sweeping turn over 65, switched to 285's and i still feel like i can push it even further at 80, but i need sway bars first. too much body roll on the factory one.

I have a 3" drop spring myself. I have a good amount bumpsteer at highway speeds when i hit small/moderate bumps. The bigger they go from there, the worse they get. Im going with a spindles/springs combo as soon as spring hits this year.

sounds like you probably have some problems that need to be fixed before you talk about modifying your suspension. start with the basics, make sure your tires are aired up properly, shake the front end down in case you have loose parts, check for worn out bushings, get your alignment checked and check your shocks again, just because they're fresh doesn't necessarily mean they're still good. there's no reason a rcsb truck should be out cornered by an avalanche...
