I have the djm notch and like everyone else i used an angle grinder to cut the frame. I wish i would have installed a weld in under the bed notch. I still bottom out sometimes with a flip and spring clamps.

Looks like I need to go custom or put it back to stock. 2" isn't enough. Needs 2" more drop out back to look right.

Sorry to jack your thread. Got a couple Q's about the C-notch install

1)Are you guys cutting the frame before or after installing the flip kit? From my understanding, the flip puts the axle slightly more forward so it may be best to install it first and then see where to cut the frame

2)I plan to keep the bed on and do 1 side at a time to best support the frame. Should jack stands be in front of the notch and behind or just in front? Also, should the frame be supported on passenger side and driver side by jack stands while cutting or is it okay to keep one side supported by the tire/leaf spring?

Thanks for anyone that can answer. May be basic questions, but better to know and not screw up - no going back.

I really like the Belltech notch, but I'm going with McGaughy's notch because I want the ability to use their airbag kit. Planning for a 3" drop spring up front, flip out back with a 1" lift shackle for 3/5 overall. Could take it up to 5/7 in the future with the addition of spindles and drop shackles in the future. Thanks.

Belltech instructions say jackstands fore and aft the axle. I'd do six at once, two of em up front.

The BT flip kit only goes on in one place. You don't get to choose where to put it, and don't worry, because it ends up in the right place. I'd recommend installing it before the flip kit. Give you more room to work, as the axle is farther away from the frame.

Leave the bed bolted on. No need to lift or remove it. Just put the truck on jackstands (I only use 2), remove the rear wheels, and have at it. BT gives you a nice stencil for the cut. Not sure about the other brands, but given what I've seen, the McG's kit should be good quality & easy install as well.

Just the look of the djm turned me away. Basically a small flat plate holding the *** of a near 5k lb truck that sees truck duty on. I'm not keen on paying 300 for a belltech, but my truck will atleast get a mcgaughys. The hardware on my djm hangers is also rusting badly. Not confidence inspiring.
