Default Mystery vent hose

Replacing the tranny with a FLT Level 5. On installing, there is that bracket that bolts to the top tranny bolt which has two white things that look like check valves or filters, and two hoses that go from them. One hose goes to the vent on the transfer case. The other goes to a Y-fitting, one fork of which goes to a very short hose to the tranny vent, the other fork going to a longer hose to...what??? It came off as I was removing the old trans, and I can't see where it goes to. I thought maybe it went to the rear differential, but that apparently vents to the gas cap area. I have searched this forum and all the others I can think of, and nobody seems to know where it goes. I am afraid water is going to get into some place it shouldn't and cause problems. Please help.

I think what you're talking about is a vent if you over heat you trans it allows the fluid to escape there it doesn't connect to anything but should clip to something.

Sounds like a transfer case vent hose.

Yep. There are two vents on the tranny and one to the transfer case.

OK I got the transfer case vent connected. It's on its own hose. And I got the tranny case vent that is on the top where the bell housing morphs into the gear case (sorry I can't take pics of it with the tranny installed). But where is the second tranny vent? That must be where this hose connects.

Seems to me that if you have the tranny and T-case hoses connected,
the other hose just terminates over top of the T-case and pukes tranny fluid should the need arise.

You might be right, as there are no signs of any clamp or fitting on the hose end IIRC, and for the life of me I can't find any documentation of a second vent fitting on the tranny or T-case, and no third port that would need a vent hose (I checked the front axle and it has its own vent, and the rear axle vents near the gas filler tube according to GM's manuals). I think I'll give Chuck @ FLT a call tomorrow AM and see what he thinks. I'm just scared that if I leave it off a fitting some dirt or water will get where it doesn't belong and create problems.

that hose doesn't hook to anything, there should be a wiring clip right around where the tranny crossmember bolts to the frame on the driver side, just slide the end of the hose into the clip to hold it in place.

There is a round style clip I belive on the passenger side, Most trans places wont even put that back in. Water cant get in there BTW you would really have to submerge the truck for that.

Yep as already posted. The tranny and transfer case on the same hose. The other just lays out the back.
