Default My DD handles like crap! Help

I have an 04 model extracab stepside. I am not sure what is going on with it. I got the truck with aprox 45k on it and it has done this since day one. When I am going down the interstate or highway and hit a bump the stupid thing just jumps all over the road. At interstate speed if I hit a good bump it will jump half a lane if you dont have a grip on it. There are no mods to the stock suspension. I bought the truck used so I dont know if there were any mods that the previous owner took off. The only thing that is not stock on it is it has tires and rims off of a tahoe. Do you guys have any suggestions before I take it to the alignment shop and get raped?

If you havn't had an alignment latley you need one. Before you bring it in though I would check the ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Loose front end components could cause it, also if your alignment is to far off that could also.

Don't look at it as them raping you, look at it as saving you money. Your suspension components and tires will last longer. I found a firestone shop and bought the lifetime alignment for $149. Now I have them do it every 6 months for free.

is there any vibration, when driving at 50 to 60 or above? does it feel like it pulls one way or the other? when you hit the brakes does it feel like its hopping any, the front? i'd cover all the basic parts before taking it in, like checking wheel balance, tie rods, ball joints and such, lift the front up on jack stands or with a jack, check the wheels for play take a bar stick under tire and lift if it lifts then tie rods or ball joints are worn or bad

your tires, stock tires in general, are probably the main concern. I've noticed some of the same in my reg cab '06, I think most of it is because the stock shocks on my truck suck ***. I'm looking at replacing them with edelbrock ias or maybe kyb shocks. My truck does the jump/wander when I hit a bump at almost any speed.

My truck is lowered, but at 30k miles the stock front shocks were gone. It was the rebound that nearly sent me into the next lane. The next day I had new shocks. You might want to check yours.

Check the idler and pitman arms too. Sounds like maybe the early signs of one or both of those going out. Its scary when one gets really bad.

The truck does not pull to one side or another, and it has the stock tires on it. Do you guys thing I need to swap tires first then go get shocks and alignment or visa versa?

I would check these out...I need to replace em on my truck and I have the same symptoms as you...if the road is uneven or anything it makes driving a chore!
