Moving the Shifter to the Floor / Console
#13
Here's a Q for any to answer. Q:Has anyone tried to put a floor mt. shifter in a reg.cab, yet retain that middle jump seat? I just went out to truck & I forgot bout the cupholder on front of seat protrudes even further forward too. I kinda like the storage on the upper part of seat. A cupholder can be relocated prolly. Where's that ProShifter of mine? Hmm...

Here is an old thread with some good pictures of shifter installed in a console.

Thanks Truckmann. I wonder if GMRacer ever did this too. I went to that thread, I'd like to see booty installed too but I like the fit. Most, not all aftermkt. shifters have a reverse lockout for track use. One of the magazines showed how to make your own reverse lockout. I think it just involved filing some metal. Floor mt., just a different look.

This is good...real good. I remember Silver Whistler's post. And Dirty30's was exactly what I had been looking for on the console. Floor mount good too, but I think the console looks cleaner and still have a place for all my junk.. Good to know I don't need to hook up any of the wiring, except maybe tow/haul and indicator lites. I'll admit the main idea isn't function but it does look damn good.
