I have a Hotchkis sway bar with the Moser cover. No issues. I have a flip kit though, that might make a difference. Not sure.

I also have a Hotchkis rear sway bar with the T/A cover in a standard configuration without a flip kit and no fitment issues what-so-ever. And with the T/A version I was able to order the metric bolts with the cover.

Are these things really worth $160 of insurance? I have seen some guys push the 10 bolt fairly hard without issue. I don't plan to go crazy with my Tahoe any time soon but this might be something to consider.

$160 now is better then a complete rear end swap later down the road. I just can't imagine that paying more then $50 would be worth what it could possibly "save" the rear end from taking a ****. Is it cosmetic more then anything or do you guys think it could worth it's cost in insurance.

Its made to help prevent carrier issues. But i also never heard of issues using stock cover. Im honestly just using it for cosmetic appearance more then anything. I just bought one used off a fellow member on here.

They offer support on the bearing caps to keep it from pulling away.

Why don't you read up on them. GM Girdles, Chevy 8.2"/8.5" 10 Bolt Rear End Girdle - Original, TA_1807 | TAPerformance.com

It all depends on what your doing with the vehicle to justify the cost.

Red RTV on the threads.

Back the girdle studs all the way out and clean the threads off. Put some RTV on it and torque to spec. Wipe up any excess sealant for a clean appearance.

Also fill from the side hole next to the pinion. Some guys are overfilling them using the plug in the cover.
