I've been turning wrenches on vehicles for 20yrs now and in the past Moog suspension components were always regarded VERY highly by people I trust in the repair industry.
However, I heard a nasty little rumour that their quality is not what it used to be, is this true? anyone have any industry insight?

 

Dont really have any insight other than i had a buddy who worke dfor the moog plant here in elma new york, and he stated that there was some internal problems with changing some of the stuff they had used to fabricate some of the equiptment, bu tit might just have been for the areospace industry, not much help i know but thats all i can offer.

 

I had horrible experience with Moog. I replace all the balljoints and A-arm bushing on my dads 94 Chevy 3500, in less the 20,000 miles all the components I replaced had to be replaced again. I replaced everything with oem components and yet have to replace them, that has been over 175,000 miles.

Another vehicle I used Moog parts was my old 86.5 Nissan truck, these parts lasted a little longer (50,000 miles) but still had to be replaced. If any of you guys know factory Nissan parts are very expensive.

That used to be the case. Not aware of them being of less quality.

I Guess thats why Nascar uses them, they Really kick *** for 500 miles then they Chuk Um. I would hope they are better than oem parts, they cost more. and oem cost is hard to beat.

 

Just make sure that the part that is replaced comes with grease fittings. The sealed type units are not the hype they were made out to be.
By the way, MOOG parts offer lifetime warranty on their parts.

A couple of months ago i guy told me that the main MOOG manufacturing plant burned to the ground and they lost everything...now what you get is their less known brand name A1 cardone in a moog box with a moog warranty...just what the guy told me so take it as u may.
