mildly built 4l60e or 4l70e

4l60e has a shift kit new clutches and 5 pinion gears. 4l70 is stock looking for the best option for my 03 ss awd

They are the same casing. Hard parts are different between the 2. 60e had 4 pinion planetaries. 65e had 5 pinion planetaries. Parts are interchangeable.

The 70 is just a beefed up 60/65.
