Default MG5 + Vortec 5.7

I've searched and searched but haven't been able to find a 96-98 RCSB w/5spd & the 5.7 so I've decided to change my 98 autospastic over to a 5spd. I pulled the tranny (MG5), pedals, etc.. from a 97 w/4.3. My question is, how well will the MG5 hold up behind the 5.7. I know the 5.7 trucks w/5spd's had a M50 and could handle the extra torque of the 5.7. My truck is pretty much stock except for a new tune for the 5spd. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-D

Just take it easy in first gear, that's where the most torque multiplication takes place. Don't dump the clutch or get too crazy in low-traction conditions. Once you're into second it will be fine. The 4.3 clutch is going to be a little weak for the 5.7L. You can always swap that later if you want to get this going quickly now.

Cool, thanks for the info. I plan on getting a new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. I believe the 4.3 flywheel is a little different weight? At least its a different part number...

So, the only difference between the MG5 and M50 is the ratios (1st & 2nd)? Or is it something else?
