manual tranny won't go into 3rd at high rpms
So i took my colorado to the track a few nights ago and i came across a problem that i just can't figure out. My truck has the Ma5 tranny(also used in the solstice) and i posted on their forum with no real luck.
My tranny drives normal, every gear shifts fine around town, but at the track it won't go into 3rd. I bumped my revv limiter and have been shifting at 65-6800rpm. I made 10 passes and it went into gear twice at those rpms. Thinking it was just me, i let a friend do a pass and he had the exact same problem.
Is there anything that would cause a tranny to not wanna go into gear at those rpms? The 1st-2nd shift is smooth, but not the 2-3.

Sounds EXACTLY like the issue many f-bodies and some truck guys have. The fix is the famous "drill mod" which elimiates a restriction in the hydraulic line leading from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder. I'd look there first as if the clutch isn't disengaging, you're outta luck to get it into the next gear short of jamming it in and praying it doesn't break.

This is my slave cylinder, what would need to be drilled out??
The tranny has 70k on the oem fluid and a part of me was thinking that the fluid was worn and making the tranny shift less smooth.

The full size trucks issue is with the syncronizer and hub wearing and getting worse over time (but could be caused due to the clutch not releasing fast enough which the drill mod would fix.)
The Camaro problem is the restriction in the line.
I have no experience with the Colorado transmission, but with luck, the drill mod may fix it.
