I don't think you have a converter problem, you have a 1st gear problem. It is EXTREMELY tall! If you have 3.23 gears and I'm guessing about 31" tall tires, w/ the 4L80's tall first gear, and assuming a modest 6000 rpm shift point, you won't shift to second till about 70 MPH! That's a damn long way to carry one gear!. It would feel like your in second gear all the time if your used to the 60.

Now, is the motor building boost quickly and holding it? Sounds more like you have a engine power problem, if its not spooling up and pulling all the way through that gear. Like Erik said, check for boost leaks, and tell me what kind of boost your seeing with it. Watching your vids, it looks like it stales fine to me, you just have a really tall gear in it.

You know... I noticed that too, but assumed I must've missed the shift. I was like, "damn... my trans shifts between 40 - 45mph, but that one was at 70!" Sounds like a few WOT runs from a dig are in order, with a laptop logging trans activity.

If your going to install 4.10's then do that first and see how it does. If it is still really loose then swap in that yank 2600 you have. Turbos benifit better from a tighter converter so you can load then engine and build boost better.

Thanks guys! So I stopped by JPA today and this is the plan so far. Waiting on Wilwood for something but after that I'm either gonna order new internals for the rear end or possibly get a new rear-end all together. In either case gonna go with some 4.10's and assess the converter from there. Brian drove it around today and oddly enough the converter acted normally! But there's still a few other bugs such as no AC and Alternator problems. The SES codes are for misfires which is probably due to the large cam. MAF max'ed out at about 8 psi (do to cfm's I presume) so I'm just gonna break it in for a while. Already broke loose some baffles in my muffler so I sound like a cheap honda right now!

If i'm not happy with the PI 3000 at that point I'll throw in the yank. Thanks for everyone's feedback. First deal with the gearing then deal with the TC...roger that!

As far as boost goes it will go into it fairly early but because there's a bit of a no-man's land between 2000 rpm's and 3500 rpm's I don't see boost until after the converter is done picking a good stall speed and the tranny has decided what gear to choose. Spools up fast and up to 6 lbs quickly and climbs from there and doesn't drop off. It's out of vacume at around 1300 rpm's which is sooner than I remember pre swap with the 5.3L.

Haha, thanks nonnie!
Don't know about shift points yet. Haven't spun the motor that high to find out. I know at 5500rpm's I was at 60 and the engine's currently set to shift at 6500 rpm's so I'm thinking 70-75.

Right now it's a little nerve racking to see the the tach go past 6K and still pulling. Without the needle there to watch I'm wondering what's gonna happen first, a shift or a rod through the floorboards!

If your tires are 31" it will shift 1-2 at 74.8mph at 6500mph with the 80

Makes for a VERY long first gear
