Default Lost 1st and 2nd gear... need some help

Well ... more tranny problems. When the truck's in 'D' it wont engage, 3rd, same thing. you have to shift it from 1st and ease onto the throttle and them bump it into 2nd... all the while its making a horrible noise. once its in 3rd and the converter locks its fine. Reverse is fine as well. Over a certain speed I can manually shift it into 'D' and it will go into overdrive... this thing is a bitch to drive...

I put the converter and rearend in this weekend so I know thats making the slip in 1 & 2 feel worse but its bad... I mean really bad... any thoughts as to what it could be?? I am fukin tired of having trans problems.

are your dashlights on and off?? more than likely its your ignition switch..yes it seems odd..but somehow when the switch is bad 1st and 2nd dont enguage..what ever gear you take off in 3rd or over drive it takes off in that gear..i had the same thing happen on my 97 gmc and my friend 4.8 truck..replaced the switch and all went back to normal..hopefully some more ppl will chime in on this

I dont know for sure man... should be in December if I do end up driving. I'll probably fly though. I'll have to let you know some other way.

sounds like hard parts in the tranny... if there wasnt a noise, id say tuning, but i doubt that

who did your tranny build last time?

a local guy in Tx.... he said he put all the good hard parts and BW frictions in it but I dont think that was the case at all. I think I got jipped on that one... I think I might just be looking for another tranny... this one is junked. I'm still limping around on it but its done for sure.

well if you dont go for an flt or something like that.. i got a guy that could probably save that tranny and pretty much do an overhaul on it for you and do what you want, including a good converter... 80e, 60e, 65e, whatever you want... just pm me and i'll get you all the info.
