Default Looking for some information

I am looking for some information on what a stock gm truck can handle horsepower wise. At what HP do you have to start thinking about building the transmission, and the rear end?

I'm reading what I posted and it doesn't make since, what I am actually wondering is when you have to start building those items? When you start adding cams heads intakes that sort of thing? What are the actual HP numbers they can take?

I'm saying they could blow up now, bone stock. Lots of people kill stock trannys and rear ends with no mods. It all depends on your driving habits.

Here's a little indication, my stock trans blew at 59.6k with my mild set-up in sig...23k of that was cammed with no torque management. I do have a tendency to push it, but was driving normally when the trans went. The factory has their settings de-tuned and removes spark timing during the shifts in an attempt to protect the transmission in stock form. A couple of good burn outs and fish tails will chuck a G80 in a heart beat...that's on a stock truck running on 87 octane with a misfire

the transmission is the weak link. Shift kit, servos, etc and it will maybe last a bit longer in stock form. The engines are capable of putting out 200% what they do stock but again, it will depend on how YOU use that power, driving habits.
