Question Looking for a nice lift kit for my 03 Sierra

Hey guys, I am not new to this site, but I actually have a truck now, so I figured I would start chiming in!

I am looking for a lift kit for my 2003 GMC Sierra with the step side/ext cab.

I know that Tony (nineball) use to have the same truck, just a different year I think and he had a 7" lift. Not sure if I want to go that high, though it looks sweet.

I am new to the whole lifted truck thing, and am not sure what goes into the build the higher you go...also, is it true that lifts and larger tires hurt gas mileage quite a bit, or is it more of a heavy foot thing?

Any info would be great!!
THANKS
Erik

Everyone with a lifted truck will have their own opinion. RCD, Fabtech, BDS all make good kits. Do you have a 2wd or 4wd? How high do you want to go with what size tire?Go to a lift shop & ask how each kit achieves its lift, what's the spring rate on the coils(if 2wd), etc. Gas mileage will suffer some because now you have worse aerodynamics plus a bigger tire patch on the ground. All terrain vs. mud terrain tires also makes a difference.
