Seems to be a site issue, I sent you an Email. See if that works so we can figure out if it's the site or my attachment.

What would you guys do?

Take the transfercase apart and install the modified input shaft for the 80E and revised oil slinger.

Or

Order the bearing and seal kit from eBay along with a new chain, then rebuild/upgrade the transfercase and be done with it?

250.00 is what I had saved for drivelines. I don't need to drive my truck so it could theoretically sit there until I work some overtime and recoup some cash.

I guess it really depends on how many miles you have on it and how it looks inside.

I personally would do it right the first time, that way your only in it one time.

That's kind of my line of thought as well.

I still can't believe that of all the folks that did this to their transfercase nobody took pictures or documented it. Seems odd. I try to take pics of everything I do.

I'm guessing I'll need at least one bearing. I'm assuming that there's a bearing on the input shaft. Unless its pressed into the case.

I know this thread is quite old at this point, but when you say updated / revised oil slinger are you talking about the pump cover to cure the infamous pump rub issue or is it something else?

Yes. It was designed to cure the pump rub. I ended up using a case saver. Iirc, it was about $20 on eBay.

Here's my build up thread. Specifically post 110.

Hope this helps!

I think I have some excess play in the front of my driveshaft going into my transfer case... I will be doing a rebuild like this over the winter. Hopefully it fixes a slight vibration I have been experiencing for quite some time now.

I'm tracking down a vibration that im nearly positive is coming from the T-case. Since I just crossed 70k I guess I should do a fairly comprehensive overhaul while I'm in there. Let me know what you guys think of all these parts.

The rebuild kit: NP149 NV149 TRANSFER CASE REBUILD KIT FITS ALL WHEEL DRIVE '01-'07 GM TRUCKS & SUV'S - The American Powertrain Warehouse

The filter:NP149 NV149 TRANSFER CASE FILTER FITS ALL WHEEL DRIVE '01-'07 GM (29747) - The American Powertrain Warehouse

The 'case saver': NP246 NP261 NP261XHD NP263 NP263XHD NP236 NP149 TRANSFER CASE PUMP RUB PROTECTOR PLATE BRNY - The American Powertrain Warehouse

A new chain: NP241 NP243 NP246 NP261 NP263 NP149 NP144 TRANSFER CASE CHAIN BORG-WARNER HV072 NEW - The American Powertrain Warehouse

Here are the parts I am unsure about.

A new pump: NP149 NV149 TRANSFER CASE PUMP FITS ALL WHEEL DRIVE '01-'07 GM TRUCKS & SUV'S (29074) - The American Powertrain Warehouse

The rear case: NP246 NP261 NP263 NP261HD NP263HD NP149 NP136 TRANSFER CASE REAR HALF (HOUSING) MAGNESIUM - The American Powertrain Warehouse

If it is out of round out back is it possible I could get away with just a bushing? May the housing still be OK?
NP246 NP149 NP136 NP208 NP231 NP241 NP261 NP263 MUNCIE T10 EXTENSION HOUSING BUSHING WT297-62 - The American Powertrain Warehouse

First, does anyone think a pump is necessary or worth my while? Is there any reason the one in my transfer case should be replaced? Second, what are everyones thoughts on the excess play in the front of the driveshaft? Is it likely that the new bushing will solve that problem, or is it more likely that the rear case has been damaged at this point?

Thanks for the feedback.

great thread.

The torque is split to 62 percent to the rear output shaft (2) and 38 percent to the front output shaft (3)

that was interesting and how they explained the front spinning and when the rear spins. Cool stuff guys
