Default Late shifting into 2nd- Blown trans?

My trans started shifting late into 2nd this morning, is this a sign that it may be blown? It doesnt feel like it is slipping, but it is holding the gear a looong time in first. It got a little better a the trans warmed up, but was still bad. If it is blown, how far shoud I de-mod my truck before going to the dealership? I am wondering about the cat-back, shorties, etc. I dont want any BS from them.

Still got the stock wheels and tires? I'd but them on if you do. Unless you have mods other then whats listed in your sig you should be ok. But some **** dealers might give you hell about running oversized tires.

Dealer will ask if you have a K&N air filter. They will tell you the Oil frim the
filter is messing up your MAF and causing the shifting problem. Make sure you
put paper air filter back in before going to dealer.

Very true... I've heard that on a few occasions with the air filter... Its total bs tho, no way that a dirty manifold can screw up shifting, but thts the dealership's standard approach.

If the MAF gets screwed up/dirty it CAN have an effect on the transmission. The transmission controls in the computer rely on info the MAF gives in a round about way. Unplug your MAF and drive around for a while. When the computer finally realizes what's up you better hope the trans is bolted in tight.

My trans is losing 4th gear and today it started holding 1st gear for longer than normal also so yours might be going out too.

I tried cleaning it with some CRC(?) electrical contact cleaner. I called a guy I used to work with, and he said that is what they use at the dealership.

No difference though. Looks like I will be pulling of the D1 and probably the shorty headers at the least, mayb ethe wheels too. I dont want any crap from the dealer. The damn truck has less than 4,000 miles.
