the G80 is a weird unit. if you spin them slow you can get it to lock.. if you spin it too fast it wont lock.. pretty much like what your doin..

My S10 has a open diff and it will spin both tires forever on dirt.. but on asphalt it chirps both them then all of a sudden i got a one tire fire..
