Default Installing a Trans Temperature Gauge

Guys,

I'm thinking about installing a trans temp gauge I have a few questions about the wiring. Where did you tag you ign power and dimmer wires from? It seems that the F-body guys tag those wires from the fuse panel, but when I looked at mine I couldn't figure out witch ones to tag (and I have the mini fuses in the interior fuse panel).

Also, when installing the senser in the driver's side pressure port, do you have to remove that black box on the gear selector (I think)?

Thanks,

Jeff

Also, what color paint did you use to cover the gauge pod? Egauges.com has a GM graphite and GM light pewter, which one should I get for my truck? (I have the standard gray interior)

I hooked into the Relay control box, or whatever its called. It's located on the front floorboard on the left. There's lots of empty connections down there for me that can be made useful.

I didn't have to remove anything on the tranny. Just pulled the plug out, and put the sender in. As for the guage pod color, I didn't use one, because I put in the factory cluster.

Thanks,

I took a look at that relay box, it seems that my box is setup differently than yours. However, I think I found some connections in that box that I can use.

On your picture, you point out the dimmer. So does that work on the backlighting when you use the pannel dimmer control?

Also, a simple question... How do you pop off the A-pillar panel?

Thanks

Yes, it does. It is the dimmer circuit.

A pillar just pops right out. Just dont go crazy with it. I actually hooked my wires into the fuse panel where my lights connect and powered them with the windshield motor fuse. Grounded everything out on the engine ground from the body. Same place the strap hooks to from the engine. Very easy and straightforward install. As for the sending unit, just pull out the plug and install the new one with some teflon. You dont have to pull the box out of the way, I have pretty big hands and I was finally able to get the sending unit started but it might take a little while if you install laying on your back in the driveway.

Another option is to buy the escalade or denali gauge cluster. Except for the mileage swap, it is strictly plug and play.
