I checked with my trans builder and he said that it's completely fine. I have put 30k miles on it in a year and have had no issues. I absolutely beat the snot out of it and it runs great. I still have another year warranty on it too.

If i ever rip into mine again, ill be ditching the 40k and getting that powerstroke cooler.

My buddy talked me into it after he ran one on his lightning. I'm so glad I did. I'm in the Philadelphia area and we had some 100+ degree days this past summer and I never saw over 170. I wasn't taking it easy either. I highly recommend this.

I notice that my 80e in a 2500HD runs cooler with a stock cooler compared to my old 4l60e in a 1500 with the 40,000 cooler.

I ran a B&M 70274 behind a 6,000 stalled s10 and it held the temps down. I wont be using the 40k cooler on anything else in the future. the 70274 is smaller and does the job for me.

Thats because your stock 4L80E has two coolers. The one in the radiator does a great job at helping cool the fluid before it enters the auxiliary cooler especially at highway speeds when the coolant exiting the radiator is nice and cool. The 4L80E in my Express runs about 130-140°F in the heat of summer cruising down the highway measured by the factory sensor in the valvebody.

I run a 40k alone...130 is normal in south Florida. I get a little concerned when I drive to cooler climates. Considering running it back through the radiator.

I was afraid someone was going to suggest that to be a possible issue.

I have an older 93 trans that does not have a pwm lock up clutch nor a pwm solenoid in the valve body so I have been concerned that my tune is not set up for this.

maybe the subject of another thread?
