Yeah....I'd really like to see some evidence of this.
THese units have been around for a LONG time and I've never heard of this happening.

I can't see it creating more heat while the brakes are on than it does when they are off, but I don't know how the thing works.

Here's an analogy that's kinda similar to a brake burnout.

You're coasting down a steep hill, and downshift to help slow down. You also apply the brakes. Now you're running along at high RPM with the brakes applied. Why would that be ok, but doing a braking burnout wouldn't? Same deal both ways.

My trucks got a small power steering fluid cooler, I've been advised to fit a bigger one to help keep things cool.

Mine has the factory PS cooler. Some people don't run a cooler at all.

This is definately on the to-do list!!! I've been wondering why the hell everytime I get out of the company truck ('05 HD) and get into either one of mine, that the brakes seem like they're not there!!! The HD stops on a dime and my truck takes a lot more pedal to stop. I definately want to do this to my Z71 and considering the same for my black truck, since I might go FI.

As far as the keeping the PS fluid cool, do what I did. Get a used F-body liquid-to-liquid PS fluid cooler and install it in your upper radiator hose between the water pump and radiator (like it is installed in the F-body). They work like a champ by both bring the fluid up to temp quicker and then keeping it at the engine coolant temp.
