How strong is the 6L80/6L90 trans
I am building a Colorado with a 6.0/turbo, and the LS2 PCM/TCM I'm using can control all GM trannys. I've got an FLT 80e, but have been thinking about the 6 speed tranny instead. I have seen the car 6L80 not shift right if it is over powered(~600whp), and was wondering if the truck version does the same thing.

I am not positive what I am pushing through mine but I would safely guess over 500 and it's done amazing. I drive it like I stole it every time out and it's performed amazingly.

That's probably pushing it on the stock tranny but not sure. I know they can handle quite a bit, just have to make sure the tunning is spot on for them.
I think Circle D is beefing them up also but haven't checked their site out in a while

I just checked all the sponsors here and no one touches them yet. Everyone is telling me to stick with the 4L80 that I have, because it's built, and it has a good tcc. I just thought it would be nice to have the lower 1st gear, more gears, and a higher top gear to help on gas milage(even though I'm not building it to save on gas). It will be my DD so I'm wanting it to be bullet proof, so I should probably just stick with what I have.
