Default How much hp will a 10 bolt handle??

I want to know what you guys think? Im a believer that the stock 10 bolt will take alot. Specially with a good unit and aftermarket axles. For example, my 00 RCSB ran multiple low 11sec passes on a completely stock 10 bolt rearend. And believe it or not but my cousin and I had a 92 S10 that ran many low 9sec passes and a few 8sec passes on the stock 10 bolt with just moser axles and a mini spool. My current build is a 03 RCSB and will easily hit the 10sec range. I had planned on putting a unit and gears in the 10 bolt but what do you guys think should I go with axles too or just upgrade to a 12 bolt?

If you want to get the most out of your 10 bolt a spool and 33 spline axles are the way to go, but you loose streetability with a spool and c-clip eliminators.

Mine seems to be holding fine with a TA girdle and an Eaton Posi. Still running the original 3.73 ring&pinion and stock axles. I grenaded the G80 on the 5.3/N2O setup and broke some spider gears in the Eaton the same day I lost a rod in the 5.3. I replaced the spider gears with some hardened Yukon pieces and it has been fine since (5 yrs ago).

I'm at about 550rwhp and well over 650 ft/lbs with nitrous, goes from a dig on slicks at least every other weekend on a 4.56 & trutrac, all else is stock. Best so far is a 1.65 60' in 90 degree temps in a 3700 ft. DA.
