Any buddy knows what it takes surely it has to be more involved then swamping tail shaft and output shaft. Any chance I can get the same spline and keep my transfer case?

So if your question is what does it take to make a 2wd into a 4wd or vice versa. You have to completely disassemble the tranny. Since the tailshaft is the very first thing that goes in the case. Soooo it is alot of work.

pretty much is just the tail shaft its not too had you can order 4wd output shafts off ebay and suggest getting an ATSG book any upgrades you want to do and a full gasket kit while your at it.

Isn't it also the tranny case as well as the tail shaft? I don't think you can easily make it into a 4WD but the correct unit should be compatible with your transfer case. Probably need new front and rear DS.

I am in the same boat (wanting to convert my AWD to a 4L80E). I get flare up on shifts sometimes with 187K miles. Might be original tranny.

Google "PATC 4l60e to 4l80e swap" for the output shaft to mate with a 60E transfer case.
