Default How many here have broken a trans. after a cam/converter install?

I'm just curious how many people on this site have blown a 4l60e after swapping out the cam and converter? Also, if you have destroyed a tranny, please list how long it lasted after the swap and how your driving habits are ie. do you take it to the dragstrip a lot, drive it like you stole it, or baby it quite often. The reason I am doing this poll is to see how many people have destroyed a transmission so it will help me in deciding whether or not to swap out my cam/converter. O ya, my truck is a 2000 chevy silverado 2wd with the towing package. What size tranny cooler comes with the towing package?

Well, what year and how many miles are on your trans. You will at least want to do a shift kit and servo swap before you start building up stress on your trans. A large aftermarket trans fluid cooler would be advised also.
Everthing is relative.

I think if your thinking about those kinds of mods, you should be thinking of a trans anyway

If you mod your truck, you should deduct 100.00/pay check directly into your my trans will take a dump soon fund. I have ran 8 months on a 100k 4l60e with just a servo and some great tuning. I can't use my tow / haul tho cause the higher rpms it is set for makes it slip. I have babied mine to make it last. Do a shift kit servo and a cooler and see how far that gets ya. But , be padding the ole savings account for the faithfull day will ALL know will come.

I can second this.

I had 95k on my tranny when i just said, "i have seen too many guys here, throw in a converter and pop their **** 2 weeks later." I saved my money, bought a good tranny from a reputable builder (FLT ) and havent had a trans issue since(aside from a busted dshaft but thats not the tranny's fault). I know these stock 60Es are notorious for leaving people high and dry. Then again, Stew's **** is a freak!! Might wanna start saving for a tranny before you go and toss in the converter and cam. Just a suggestion.
