I need to get some good pictures, but it is litterally a pair of OEM cooler mount brackets from the junkyard with the OEM cooler removed by drilling the rivits out and riviting on a large Derale cooler plumbed with -6 an lines. Its a little different mounting than you would run since its a 97 Express van.

Mine came with a thermostatic switch that turns it on at IIR 175*F. Since I already had it plumbed to the stock cooler and have a duramax fan blade on my Express, I put the temperature switch in the return outlet of the trans cooler. So far the fluid stays under 200*F even towing 7,000+ on a 105*F day.

My 60 is holding 500 wheel no prob.

Your goal of 400 is more than fine.

I'm on my 4th 60E, 3rd built one, at 450-500rwhp. Wish I had gone 80E from the beginning.

A 60E will do about a day on boost with a trailer. An 80E will do about an engine (give or take a little), on boost, with a trailer.

I tow a LOT with my 80E and a big honkin' converter on 3.73 gears. I stay in 4th/Lockup all the time except on steep inclines when I step down to 3rd/Lockup for some extra torque. Assuming no serious headwind, I can comfortably roll 5000# on the interstate. When I go dually and 4:10 gears I should be able to pull even more.

Interesting. I'd say my truck at this altitude makes about 180rwhp. If i could snag another 50-60whp out of it, it would essentially be like a bone stock truck at sea level.

Either way, clearly the 60e wouldn't last very long if I'm pulling a racecar behind it. Although i've considered just flat towing one to save weight.

Will any 80E be suitable for a swap? I found a 1991 4l80e for 150 bucks as a builder here in Colorado.
