Default How to install wheel studs on 02 tahoe? 2 broken studs...

I have a couple broken wheel studs on the front of my truck. Went and picked up the studs, and I am going to put them on tonight. I haven't ever done this, I assume I get the caliper off, slide off the rotor and tap the studs out? Sound right?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cool

That sounds about right to me. Tap the broken studs out with a hammer and a strong punch. Pull the new studs through with an old wheel nut. Use washers or a larger nut as a spacer so you can fully seat the new stud. Do not try to use the wheel as a spacer to seat the stud and make sure it is fully seated or the wheel nut may come loose on you after the wheel is re-installed.

I am not sure about that. I don't know why you would loosen the steering nut? Did the dealer say why you should? If you keep the broken stud in the top most position the force of the blows used to tap the stud out will apply against the ball joints and not the steering linkage. Maybe you should ask the dealer why he suggested that just to be on the safe side.

Lowered the truck, got the front end aligned... shop left off a nut on one of the top a arms. Front end shook real bad at 55mph plus... i think that is what did it.
I can't see how the hell do you leave a fking nut off of a A arm when aligning a vehicle. I thought it was the drop kit I installed causing the front end to shake.

Now there's a scary shop experience! I'm assuming you are not rushing back there to give them more business
