Default How hard to swap out Converter?

I want to get a Yank 2600 torque converter and do the install myself. I have no experience with installing or removing anything in the transmission or motor. Is there a link with pics somewhere on how to do this step by step? Thanks.

get a transmission jack, you'll be glad you did. I can't speak much on the install, I installed mine with the engine removed.

basically you'll be removing the transmission and replacing it.

pull driveshaft, tranny cross member, wye pipe, starter, torque converter bolts, bell housing bolts, tranny jack supporting tranny pull it off the motor. Lower it, pull off old converter (slides right off), fill new with fluid, put in tranny (3 steps in as you rotate), put tranny back on in reverse order

I looked for this last week. It's on an F-body, but there are similarities.

where it attaches to the rearend, there are straps that hold the u-joint together. Take those straps off and it will drop, then drop the carrier bearing(if you have one).

Just make sure you have the converter all the way in when you reinstall it. If not, it will at minimum blow the pump out of the trans. If you can't get some help from someone who has done it before, it would be better to pay someone to do it. Not trying to discourage you, just forewarning you.

I have to agree with badmofo. It some times cheaper to have a pro do it.
