Default how to-factory trans temp gauge install?

After having an 01 C3 gmc truck and an 04 dmax, I'm used to having a factory tranny temp gauge, and monitor it regularly.
Considering buying a new 1/2 ton vmax but wondering how to put a factory type tranny temp gauge on it.
Ideas???????

Easy, go for an Escalade or 05' & up SS Silverado cluster. You might want to give the wrecking yards a shot first, or hunt around on e-bay.
Or you can check out www.usspeedo.com
Check out my link in my sig. It has a pic of my cluster from them.
They quite a few different cluster options.
If you do change out your cluster, make sure to get the engine hours and mileage reprogrammed to what you have now.
US Speedo did it for me. The cluster I got from them is a totally different cluster. I still have my factory one.

Well the truck will be new. Did US speedo provide the trans temp probe/line/etc.? I'm not sure how the factory makes their gauge work. Thx!

You can buy just the trans temp gauge from US Speedo and install it in your cluster. That is what I did in my 03. Remove the cluster, gauge needles, overlay, pull the PCB, solder in the new gauge and bulb, put it back together and go. All the circuitry is already there. Again on my 03, may be different with the newer ones?

The newer trucks are prewired with the sensor, there's just not a guage to put the reading on. Toss a new cluster that's equipt with a tranny temp guage and you're done. I put a platinum escalade cluster in my 2004, just plug the new cluster in and that's it - 15 minute job

Just FYI, you can also use the stock gasoline HD cluster in the half tons - I believe.

I thought everything was already in the tranny, they just skimped on the cluster. my stock cluster didn't have it but I bought the SS cluster and it has it, And it works fine. or are you wanting to add it to your stock cluster.

USspeedo does not sell the kits anymore, I have one that I may be willing to let go. PM me if your interested.

You have to solder it in yourself like said above, and you may have to send the cluster out for programing(it all depends on the vehicle some have the file and some do not). but I know a guy that will program it for $50.

Or you can buy a whole cluster....
