Default How to change brake fluid?

Yes I understand this is a complete noob question. But better to ask than fail.

So my truck has high mileage and I want to change out the brake fluid. What will be the best way to go about doing a complete flush? I will be doing new pads at the same time, so do I just empty the resovoir via the individual brake lines on the calipers or what?

Thanks for the help guys. It's much appreciated.

You can either buy a one man break bleeder (they sell a good one at summit or jegs) or just open the lines and let gravity take over. When I installed the baer brakes i replaced my fluid with hightemp fluid you can also use the "gravity method to bleed the brakes....some recommend it. Good luck.

I got a pressure bleeder when I did mine. Made the work much easier. You will want to start on the farthest caliper from the reservoir and bleed until you see clean fluid. then work your way around to the closest caliper. Make sure to not let the reservoir get empty or you may get air in places that is difficult to get out. I used DOT4 fluid in mine. Also be careful what you get the fluid on cause brake fluid eats paint.
