Default HELP on Trans shift cable broken after new Trans install?

Basically changed out my old 4l60e from my 99 Sierra rcsb for an flt level 7 4l65e.

Everything works fine when shifting with the hard shift lever on the side of the trans, but when I have the column shifter in park and trans in park and connect shift cable I can go from park to reverse to neutral to drive. It does shift into each gear...but after dropping down the column shift will lose all resistance and won't shift back up to neutral/reverse/park. The handle will go up but it won't change the gear on the trans. And also it won't go below D into 3 2 or 1.

If I reset both back in park I can do the same again...but of course it isn't working correctly.

Can anyone help me with what is wrong?

Is the cable broken? Or is there some adjustment I need to do?

Really need some help to get this truck back on the road.

Thanks

I've been dealing with a sort of similar issue. It sounds like your cable might be donkey somewhere along inside the sleeve. Might be frayed and hanging up. Take it off the shift arm by the trans and try to slide it or have someone in the truck shift back and forth while you inspect from below.
