Default HELP PLS...Loud dtrain noise!

Truck has a worsening whine as I glide to a stop. If I put it in neutral sound disappears. Just had the tranny serviced end of last summer and all was good, recently changed diff fluid and cover. I had a "service 4wd" msg a cpl time that went away...cud it be that? First assumption was I used different diff fluid and need to change that?

sounds like the transfer case from your description. check the fluid level in it, over time it will develop a hole where the pump rubs against the case

No holes that I saw...no leaky...but I'll check it again...did have a weap as I recall. What kinda fluid does it take...synth or non-synth...same crap as the rr end and with the GM additive? Its def a part I've never even looked at before! R/

your transfer case should use automatic transmission fluid, check your manual to verify.

So...front seal on the transfer case was shot. Problem is, the whine is still there and pretty sure its the rear end. Gonna check today for any play at the yoke and hopefully its just a loose yoke nut...if not could be end play and/or bearing. Only does it when gliding to a stop while downshifting, not while in neutral...Hmmmm.
