Default Help! blown rear end

Blew the rearend in my truck. It goes into the shop tomorrow to have a detriot truetrac put in. Is it ok to drive the 2km to the shop in 4wd? It was towed home with the rear wheels on the ground so if any more damage has been done its allready happened, but will driving in in 4wd (fwd) hurt it if i took it easy for that 2km?

thanks

yea, i had it towed. Way too far for me to drive home comfortably in 4hi and I had free towing so why not, wasn't sure if it could mess something up in the front end without the help from the rear. I think i'll be driving it on tomorrow though. What a bang that rear end made, thought my tranny would go before the rearend wasnt expecting it.

dpending on what went wrong with the rear....if you hav parts floating around they could lock the rear up and could possibly damage the transfercase/ trans

pulling the driveshaft would have been a good idea, that way if it locked up you could let the front tires drag the truck off the road.... or do an impressive FWD burnout and scare a few ricers

so how did you break it?

except when you pull the driveshaft all the fluid falls out of the transfer case....

FWD burnout= bad time! My buddy was driving his '69 bronco to his shop in the same condition with the DS out. Saw me and tried to show off for the lady in the pass seat... then BOOM! Broke both front axles! So I took a couple of pictures and a video to haunt him forever of me pulling him to the shop intstead!

Definitely not supposed to tow a 4wd with two tires on the ground and two off....hopefully it didn't mess up anything in your tranny and transfer case....

For future reference, either flat bad the truck or put the transfer case in neutral and tow it with all 4 on the ground.
