Default HELP Advice Needed Open Rear end Blew..again..

Alright,

I'll keep it short, as I need help very very soon.

99 Sierra 1/2 Ton 4X4
3.73 Open rear end.
Spit second set of spiders out today.

Need to have the differential completely rebuilt by a local shop
What parts do I need to make this stout enough to handle 400 ft/lbs+ of torque?
Extremely tight budget, but want to do this once and only.
I didnt want to swap axles if I didnt have to. Prices I'm being quoted are around $1200 for replacement parts.

Eaton Performance Posi?
Any specific bearing/seal kits preferred over others?

None of those go together easily, but if I were you I'd get with Rons Machining Service and get his package deal with a trutrac/gears/bearings/install kit.

Looking those up now.
I saw one on here for the GM kit for $600, but I dont believe it was Rons.

What would be the typical install cost do you think?

That sounds about right for Rons.

Install here runs $250

You say you only messed up the spiders? So your ring and pinion is still good? I would just get a truetrack and a master install kit, and re use the ring and pinion. This is what i did back in 2006 and it is still going strong to this day.. has seen a cammed and full bolt on ls2 and a turbo lq9, so im sure you would be good for 400ft tq.

I agree. You are not going to put down 400ft/lbs with an open differential and the spider gears will not appreciate the one wheel burnouts.

I'm hoping so. It was good the last time, just the spiders were trashed.
I'll drain it tonight and get the big chunks out.
I know that there are particles all through the rear, so all seals/bearings will need to be replaced. Probably more than I can do myself. (never tore into one).

Is that an Eaton Truetrack or Detroit locker?
I want it to work like a traditional posi, not a ratchet etc.

For seals/bearings, is there an "outer kit" for a complete set or?
