Default help! 17" to 20" wheels,

I recently purchased an 07 tahoe, it came with the stock 17" wheels, I just put on some 20"factory wheels yesterday, and today when my wife was going to work she said a light popped up that says "service tire monitor system"??? any help on how I can get rid of it?? I will be getting a tune next month, will this fix it??? or can I go to the dealership and let them fix it??? I prefer to take care of it right now since it'll be another month before I get a tune...

thanks...

FYI..

I just went to the dealership and they said that the 20" wheels that I have do not have the tire pressure regulators... the tire pressure regulators are located inside the tire, it is hooked up to the valve stems through the inside, (they showed me one)... thats how it gives the tire pressure reading in the message center inside the truck, they said they are in-frared (sp?)... well these tire pressure regulators are about $125 a piece ... I can either buy some new ones or take my 17"wheels to them with the truck and they will switch them over to the 20's and recalibrate... they charge $200 for this service...

just thought I shared this just incase anyone else runs into these problems...

I would take your Tahoe to a tire shop and pay to have them swap the sensors over to the 20's. It would be a lot cheaper than what the dealership is charging you.

if you bought wheels and tires from a shop they should have done it for you. but if you bought them prepackaged then yeah, a tire shop will be a lot cheaper than the dealer on switching over

were the factory 20's you got for it from a vehicle that had the tire pressure monitoring system?????? or did you buy these new off the shelf from GM?

Just FYI, Discount Tire has the equipment to calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system - my buddy took his tahoe there one time when the system was reporting false pressures. I don't even think they charged him for what they did.

All company owned Goodyear stores have just recently received TPMS resetting tool and can also switch over your Valve stems.

I went thru the same deal with my 04 tahoe. The tire shop guys switched my sensors to the 22" wheels but it wouldn't work. I wound up taking them back off and just kept resetting the tire monitor sensor alarm. As you know I traded in the 04 tahoe, so I still have the tire monitor sensors if you're interested.

I've seen quite a few 07 Yukons come in with the "service tire monitor" on even with the regular 17's. Not sure what the problem has been looks like the tech's are reseting the light.

the 20's I bought from a tire shop, and they do not have the sensors, my friend works at discount tire and he is going to swap them over, but I would really like to buy an extra set and install them... I will be using the 17's about 3x a year when we go out of town, (in the woods) and I dont want to mess up the 20" tires...
