I was on my way to Walmart Tuesday night and pulled off from a stop sign and got on it a little. It acted as if it was slipping like crazy then finally shifted into second. I noticed that it didnt have the firmness like it usually has. Its a 60e with a vette servo and a DS predator. The line pressure is a couple notches below stock because it yanked hard and got a little annoying. We'll I get there and park and notice a little smoke. Get out and look and trans fluid is everywhere so I.try to make it home. Made it and went out the next day to find out what wrong and see that the lip that the snap ring goes in for the servo is broken almost all the way around the bottom. How did I do that? What can I do now? I'm sure its gonna be get a new transmission or case. Any recommendations? Ill try to post a pic

Man that sucks. Yeah it looks like the ring to the servo wasn't installed all the way. The broken off part appears to start at the end of the snap ring indicating that that was seated in properly. The other end is still out. I bet the other end never got seated putting all the pressure where the piece broke off.
Yeah I can't think of another way around it other than a case.

Its been in for right at two years now. I put it in and I made sure it was seated. Two or three times before I drove it. I pushed it around with a screw driver and it moved freely. I just don't get it. Anyone know where I can find a case or a new tranny? I want to do most of the upgrades everyone talks about to make it stronger but would rather buy one already done with a warranty. Anyone know where I can get a good deal? Btw its a 4x4 with 150000 miles so not looking to sink a ton in it and it only has intake exhaust and a DS predator. The only mods I might do in the future are LT headers and maybe a lift. Can u guys point me in the right direction?

Where are you located? I have seen what happened to you before even after a couple of years. The one thing that comes to mind is if the pressure is jacked up with your tune. As mentioned the normal cause is the snap ring not being fully installed. Its always best to make sure that all the rusty looking chunks are not in the bore where the snap ring sits. I have also seen issues with snap rings that are not completely round. There is a ring out there that is actual flat on the sides and I have seen some issues with these. Its also a good practice to wire wheel these rings so they are nice and clean. In your case you are either going to have to replace the case or get a totally different assembly. I'm in Alabama. I ride dirt roads and get in mud every now and then. Mostly a highway truck. Only mods I plan on doing are LT headers and maybe a lift one day. I tow now and then. Just want something reliable and not easy to break. Don't wanna break the bank either cause the truck has 155000 miles on it. I know I want a servo in it just not sure on what else. What are your recommendations?
